Library
Instructor: Mrs. Ames & Mrs. McIntosh
Students and staff visit the library throughout the day to browse the shelves for a "catchy" title or one recommended by a friend. Some prefer to scope out which playaways are available the next time they visit  Others drop in to say hello, or to take an AR test.  Whatever the reason, the library is available for whole class/small group instruction, study hall, pleasure reading, and researching.  It's a place of warm, comforting thoughts and adventures being found in a book.

Great books are meant to be shared and reread; but they need to be returned on time so others can read them. Please help your student to remember to return them on time by checking here for their library day and time.

Read Across America Update
Students have been reading and biking since October to make the long journey across the United States with hope that Mr. W will rap the United States song on March 2.  We started our trek from Nokesville, VA and have visited several states with lots more to visit.  Each class in each grade level has completed research on assigned states.  Once their state has been reached, student reporters report interesting facts about their state during morning announcements and place their state's map on the large US Map in the cafeteria. Thus far, NES students and staff have traveled 2,400 miles across the United States.  We have heard interesting facts about Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi to name a few.
Please encourage our young travelers, researchers, and readers to continue reading and biking across this great country!

2011-2012 Library Hours
8:20 a.m. -- 2:30 p.m.
Library Policies
Returning library items on time is essential.  Each library patron is allowed to checkout items for two (2) weeks (10 school days).  Students in Kindergarten, first, second, and third grades are allowed two items.  Grades four and five students are allowed a combination of three items.  Third through fifth grade students are permitted to checkout one playaway which is not renewable.
An overdue notice is sent and/or emailed home each Monday until items are returned.   After two weeks of being overdue, the patron will be charged the cost of the lost/damaged item.  This will help in the event an item needs to be replaced.
